Parade the Circle, which began as a community-outreach experiment by the art museum in 1990 to mark its 75th anniversary, has grown to become one of Cleveland’s biggest annual events. For more than a quarter of a century, Parade the Circle has signaled the arrival of summer in Northeast Ohio. International and national guest artists joined Greater Cleveland artists, families, schools, and community groups in a spectacular display of bright costumes, giant puppets, stilt-dancers, handmade masks, and colorful floats.

Each year, thousands of spectators flock to Surf Avenue, Coney Island’s main drag, to watch King Neptune and Queen Mermaid lead a procession of beglittered seminude marchers in costumes through the neighborhood. Three thousand marchers and half a million spectators attended to see the celebration of culture and art, which featured floats, marching band and mermaids. The Mermaid Parade specifically was founded in 1983 with 3 goals: it brings mythology to life for local residents who live on streets named Mermaid and Neptune ; it creates self-esteem in a district that is often disregarded as “entertainment”; and it lets artistic New Yorkers find self-expression in public.

This year, Edmonton Gay Pride taking place from Friday, June 3, through Sunday, June 12, 2016. The parade ran down Whyte Avenue, kicking off the 10-day festival celebrating the diversity and unity of Edmonton`s LGBTQ community. Edmonton Pride consists of numerous additional events throughout the week, including parties, church services, sports competitions, a PFLAG gathering, Queer History bus tours, a Laugh Outloud comedy show, Pride Youth events, and – on the final day of Pride Week, Sunday, there\’s typically a Mayor\’s Pride Brunch.

Veterans Day is an official United States public holiday, observed annually on November, that honors military veterans, that is, persons who served in the United States Armed Forces. Philadelphia hosted first ever Veteran’s Day Parade. Many people in the city have long awaited a parade to honor their veterans. The parade focused on veterans throughout history as well as commemorating the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, the 50th anniversary of Vietnam and the 25th anniversary of Desert Shield. The parade incorporated veterans groups and organizations from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

LA Kings players aboard double-decker buses hoisted the Stanley Cup, shining bright on a sunny Southern California day, above their heads as they passed cheering fans on the route to Staples Center. Thousands of L.A. Kings fans celebrated the hockey team’s nail-biting victory for the Stanley Cup Championship for the second time in three seasons with a parade and rally downtown Monday.

The Rogers Vancouver Santa Claus parade is held every November or early December. The 2013 Rogers Vancouver Santa Claus parade was Sunday, December 1st at 1 pm. The parade starts at West Georgia Street and Broughton, travels east along West Georgia, turns north on Burrard and finishes at Burrard and Cordova. The event included the community, local charities, businesses and over 300,000 spectators.
