The Cloisters, a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. It is devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe. The Cloisters is located on 4 acres in Manhattan’s Fort Tryon Park, overlooking the Hudson River. Opened in 1938, this modern structure built in modified medieval style incorporates elements of five medieval buildings dating from the 12th through the 15th centuries, including chapels, monastic abbeys and a chapter house. The permanent collection at the Cloisters includes more than 5,000 pieces of European art, dating from 800 to 1600 ce, with the 12th through the 15th centuries being strongly represented. The displays are primarily organized chronologically. The objects include sculptures, statuary, paintings, and stained-glass windows.

The Arabia Steamboat Museum is a unique time capsule of life on the American frontier in the mid-nineteenth century. The museum traces the history of the steamboat in both the 1800s and its salvage effort in 1988. It holds one of the best displays of pre-Civil War era artifacts in the Midwest. It’s collection consists of hundreds of thousands of items intended for daily life on the frontier including more than 4,000 pairs of boots and shoes, 247 hats, 235 ax heads, 29 jars of pickles, 328 pocket knives, and one children\’s doll. The Steamboat Arabia was built in Pennsylvania in 1853 and spent three years shuttling passengers and cargo through the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers, back when rivers were the super-highways of the nation. On August 30, 1856, the steamboat was traveling up the Missouri River when it hit a walnut tree below the water’s surface, river rushed into the hull of the boat, and it sank in a matter of minutes. All 130 passengers survived, but an estimated 220 tons of cargo went down with it. Shortly thereafter, the river changed course, and the Arabia was buried underground. The cargo, destined for 16 towns on the frontier, was buried under a cornfield in Wyandotte County, Kansas for 152 years until it was discovered by River Salvage Inc.[9] In 1988, a group of self-proclaimed treasure hunters located it and began excavations.

The Oor Wullie Bucket Trail is a huge public art event running from 27 June to 27 August. Over 50 5ft tall sculptures in various guises of “Oor Wullie” were distributed to locations around Dundee & surrounds. The statues will be displayed for the next ten weeks before being auctioned to raise funds for the Tayside Children’s Hospital Appeal.

Mexico City is one of the largest, most polluted and agresive urban environments in the planet. The Library is located in a building from the late eighteenth century, in the historic center of the city, The buildings and gardens generate a new pole of urban ecological regeneration that expands over a densely populated area. The Biblioteca Vasconcelos, designed by Alberto Kalach, is a recent addition to the urban landscape and is a dual purpose facility serving as both a public library and a botanical garden. The library offers all readers a collection of over 580,000 books, collections of multimedia material, children’s books, books in Braille and music. All distributed over more than 40,000 linear meters of pendant shelf steel. It is spread on 38,000 square meters.

The War Remnants Museum is known as the Museum of Chinese and American War Crimes, focusing on exhibits relating to the American phase of the Vietnam War. It is located at 28 Vo Van Tan St, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City. The museum was opened in September 1975 and operated by the government. It draws 500,000 visitors annually. Museum curators make concerted efforts to educate foreigners, especially Americans, about the war, but based on a certain government-sanctioned Vietnamese interpretation of events.

Summer Streets is an annual celebration of New York City’s streets. It provides space for healthy recreation and encourages New Yorkers to use more sustainable forms of transportation. It is a combination of a walking tour, bike tour and block party. The city of Ålesund is known for its architecture in Art Nouveau style. The architecture makes this city different from any other Norwegian city. The colorful houses on the coast, surrounded with fjords, offers the typical landscape, you would expect to see in Scandinavia. It is built on a row of islands extending towards the Atlantic. The compact old city centre is thus surrounded by water and Ålesund is a major fisheries harbour.

This meteorite represent amount of all the garbage thrown outside the trashes in three days (36 tons). The installation was performed by the Fresh agency in the name of the City of Geneva. It is situated in the biggest square of Geneva the “plaine de plainpalais”. The first thing that usually comes to mind when see this is thinking about recycling programs and the environmental benefits.

Dubai is the leading tourist destination in the world with modern sky-scrapers, magnificent architectural buildings, luxurious hotels, shopping malls, Palm Islands, Jumeirah Beach, the Dragon Mart, Dubai Museum, Burj al Arab, and Burj Khalifa.

Venice is really built on water. The people of the Veneto region built the city on a salt marshland at the mouth of the Adriatic Sea. The “official” date of the birth of Venice is the 25 March 421. Venice has around 150 canals connected by 409 bridges, and over 3000 alleyways on the 117 islands. Basically every time you see a bridge it is connecting two islands.
