On 14 February 2013, Pistorius was charged with the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. He was granted bail eight days later and must appear before court in June 2013. South African athlete said he did not mean to kill her, and protested the charges against him. “I fail to understand how I could be charged with murder, let alone premeditated murder because I had no intention to kill my girlfriend,” Pistorius said in the statement. Police investigator told the court that Pistorius, wasn’t acting in self-defense when he shot through the door of a toilet room in the bathroom of his home and killed Steenkamp. I think, he was not in danger all the time with a gun in his hand, all he should do was block the door and call the police.
