The annual garden spectacular will feature around 40 meticulously-created sculptures from over 200 horticultural artists from Europe, Asia, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa. They form an awe-inspiring 2km circuit through the Botanical Gardens in Montreal which will feature over three million plants. The sculptures will be showcased in 10 exhibition greenhouses and 30 themed gardens at the Montréal Botanical Garden until 29 September.

This year theme for the Gaylord Palms ICE was Merry Madagascar. Santa claus has also come to town. 2 million pounds of ice were carved by artisans from Harban, China to create a beautiful exhibit that includes scenes of Madagascar movie. Wonderland of exciting hand-carved sculptures covers over 20,000 square-feet. The sculptures are brilliantly carved, colored and the best scenes from the movie are fleshed out in ice.

These sculptures were built from scrap metal, wire and reinforcement bars by sculptor Ricardo Breceda. He created all the sculptures, including life size prehistoric creatures, elephants, camels, horses, dragon … The sculptures look like a natural part of the landscape, and from a distance appear very real. This unusual tourist attraction is a desert creature park open to anyone brave enough to face the desert and the unbearable heat that comes with it.

Moilinere Bay is known for underwater sculptures, covering an area of 800sq metres. It is located two miles north of the capital St Georges on the west coast of the island. Park and the statues are created by Jason deCaires Taylor. The sculptures are sited in clear shallow waters to afford easy access by divers, snorkellers and those in glass-bottomed boats.

Adam Parker Smith’s first solo exhibition in New York City. It was inspired by the execution scene in Hemingway’s For Whom the Bell Tolls. The heads are impaled on stakes or lying on the ground which is strewn with roses. As guilt, fascination and loyalty encroach, flawless heroines confront heart ache, fools distinguish beauty from the grotesque and the wretched mourn the loss of irreproachable purity.

These pieces are highly detailed, well-made, and quite a unique. It looks insanely real with its sheet metal parts and its head grinded down for a very aggressive look. Sculptures are an important form of public art which have morphed significantly over the centuries.

Ice sculpture is a form of sculpture that uses ice as the raw material. Sculptures from ice can be abstract or realistic and can be functional or purely decorative. Some ice carvers use colored ice blocks produced by adding dyes into the ice, or the combination of clear and colored ice to accomplish a certain effect. Ice sculptures are generally associated with special or extravagant events because of their limited lifetime. The lifetime of a sculpture is determined primarily by the temperature of its environment and thus, a sculpture can last from mere minutes to possibly months. There are several ice festivals held around the world, hosting competitions of ice sculpture carving.

Sculptures design is the art and process of designing and creating ideas. Successful sculptures design requires learning certain skills. There are no fixed rules to sculptures design. But there are a few elements of composition that will serve the sculptures designer well, when combining materials and techniques. And the only way to get good at sculptures design is to do it.
