The bike was built to commemorate the rebuilding of the World Trade Center site and was unveiled at the 9/11 Memorial Preview Site. The 9/11 Bike is a chopper that is inspired by the World Trade Center and features numerous symbols of the rebuilding. Among the many features, the exhaust is inspired by the future 2WTC, the spine resembles the wings of the WTC Transportation Hub, and the WTC footprints adorn one side. Teutul originally started out owning Orange County Ironworks, a fabrication shop now solely owned and managed by son Daniel. He began building custom bikes for pleasure after being inspired by the many custom bikes appearing on the streets and in films. In 1999 he left and co-found Orange County Choppers with his son Paul Jr and began building bikes for sale.Teutul worked along with his sons Paul Teutul, Jr. and Michael Teutul, who became celebrities when Orange County Choppers became the focus of a reality television series called American Chopper in 2002.
