Share/Bookmark

The three islands that form a mini-archipelago off Trapani are called Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo; they count some 4,600 inhabitants. The Favignana island is often referred to as La Farfalla on account of its shape which has been likened to a butterfly a-flutter over the blue sea. It is situated approximately 7 kilometres west of the coast of Sicily, between Trapani and Marsala, It covers an area of 20 KmĀ² and has a coastline perimeter of 33 km. About 3,500 inhabitants live in the town itself. Carla Rossa is a bay on the island of Favignana. It is very well known and very popular not only with the locals on the island but day-trippers from Marsala and Trapani. There is nothing there except blue water and dramatic cliffs.
