Wild West Bodie Ghost Town

Bodie was named after Waterman S. Body, who discovered gold here in 1859. It is an original mining town from the late 1800′s. Bodie had the reputation of being one of the most furious, vehement, violent and lawless towns. It once had a population of 10,000 people and some $75million in gold was taken from Bodie Butte. It is located on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Mono County, California, about 75 miles southeast of Lake Tahoe, at an elevation of 8369 feet. Visitors can walk down the deserted streets of a town that is one of the most authentic abandoned gold mining towns of the Old West.

The Most Famous Church in Rejkjavík, Iceland

Architect Guojón Samúelsson patterned its facade after the basaltic lava columns that are common in Iceland. It is the tallest and largest church in Iceland and is Reykjavík’s most photographed emblem by far, visible from everywhere in the capital. Its magnificent 74.5 metres (244 ft) high steeple rising above all other buildings in Reykjavik. It took 38 years to build the church. Construction work began in 1945 and ended in 1986, the landmark tower being completed long before the church’s actual completion. The crypt beneath the choir was consecrated in 1948, the steeple and wings were completed in 1974. The nave was consecrated in 1986.

Miniatur Wunderland can not be explored in a few of minutes. You need to come early in the morning and leave in the very last minute. It is a permanent exhibition that attracts over a million visitors a year. The Mysterious Catacombs of Paris

The Catacombs of Paris have been created at the end of the 18th century. In the 1800′s in Paris the cemeteries were overflowing with dead bodies and had become the origin of infection for all the inhabitants. After multiple complaints, the Council of State, by decision of November 9, 1785, pronounced the removal. Beneath the streets were old stone quarries where they had mined stone to build the houses of Paris. So they decided to dig up the overflowing cemeteries and take the bones down into the caverns under the streets and create ossuaries of the the thousands of bones.

Here are some basic tips for desert driving technique, first rule is drive slow and easy and watch out for wildlife. If you try to drive too fast, you’ll damage tires, break things, second, stay on the top of, not in, the ruts. Put your vehicle in 4-wheel drive before you need it, and shift to low range early to reduce the strain on your vehicle. Range Rover did some desert testing on the Evoque to make sure it can still perform no matter how hot it really gets. Here are some pictures of it being tested in the desert.
