This is one of three houses in this fashionable block designed by a prominent Modernista architect, the other two being Casa Morera by Domènech i Montaner and Casa Amatller by Puig i Cadafalch. From the outside the façade of Casa Batlló looks like it has been made from skulls and bones. The “Skulls” are n fact balconies and the “bones” are supporting pillars. Sprinkled with bits of blue, mauve and green tiles and studded with wave-shaped window frames and balconies, The roof is covered with bluish-pink tiles on the street side.
