Bear Grylls spent three years with the British Special Air Service (21 SAS). During this time he suffered a free-fall parachuting accident in Africa where he broke his back in three places. After months and months of rehabilitation, focusing always on his childhood dream of Everest, he slowly became strong enough to attempt the ultimate ascent of the worlds highest peak. Bear has a natural talent for communication and his speaking and TV show (which include Ultimate Survival and Man Vs. Wild) have brought him worldwide acclaim. He is among the youngest and most successful speakers in the world.

  1. I am quite impressed with this guy. He is really a man of steel heart, because of his ways of survival in such areas of the planet where surviving for any human is impossible. His show on Discovery has made peoples mind that how a human can survive in the most harsh conditions and how a person can get out of these areas and reached to some safer place. I am also a big fan of “Bear Grylls” and i am still watching his new show “Worst Case Scenario” that is teaching us ways to know how counter those situations that used to happens every day in our Urbanized cities. Thanks for posting…

  3. i never seen a person like bear…. he is soo cool that there is no other person like him….. in future my only aim is to meet bear…..

He seems to be very professional and I am sure many of his survival techniques will save lives, but when he sticks all sorts of strange things in his mouth like camel spiders, which I believe he described as tasting like puss, I think his real bravery and determination to survive shows through.
The people who survive are the people like him who will do anything to survive.
Personally I think I would lose more energy and protein throwing up after eating something that small disgusting, but it is clear that it is part of his survival mindset that would probably allow him to survive almost anywhere.
Needless to say if I was trapped in the wilderness somewhere I would want to be there with Bear and some fat guy I could over power if things got really bad in terms of food… 🙂

Survival of the fittest and all that… 🙂

Be good to have a beer in a bar with too, I bet you he has a few good stories to tell and scars to prove they are true stories too.

I am reading his book now, Mud, Sweat, and Tears. I am working on my own book right now, and really find his book easy to read. It’s amazing how him and my life are slightly the same. I was bullied a lot as well, and joined the Army Airborne Rangers and graduated S.F.A.S. in 1997, I wanted to know my limits and push myself, and also know how to defend myself if needed to. Hope to meet you soon Mr. Bear Grylls. Follow me on Twitter. @carlosadames3, Best wishes to all. Never Quit.
