Barack H. Obama is the 44th President of the United States. President Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 4, 1961. He is child of a father from Kenya and a mother from Kansas. He was raised with help from his grandfather, who served in Patton’s army, and his grandmother, who worked her way up from the secretarial pool to middle management at a bank. Barack Obama was elected president on Nov. 4, 2008, becoming the first African-American to claim the highest office in the land, an improbable candidate fulfilling a once-impossible dream. He is the first president elected from Chicago.
